1. Open and preserve the source
- Keep the original OBJ, its MTL and both PNG files together. The prepared GLB embeds the textures, avoiding missing external buffer or texture paths.
- In 3D CAD, open Crane anatomy & parametric parts, start an empty assembly and choose LR 1300.2 SX crawler anatomy. Existing work is not replaced by this button.
- The original export contains 119 independent meshes, 31 materials and two textures. Original source names are retained. Two static rope sheets are hidden, not deleted, because dynamic ropes replace them.
- In Imported source parts, choose the LR 1300.2 SX to select individual crawler frames, carbody ballast, upperworks, cab, mast, lattice inserts and hook components. Loading unrigged parts from this catalogue retains their source pose; use the anatomy preset for the prepared rig.
- Use normal LPP project saving for your working file. The prepared starter project is available below. Save a separate working copy before editing calibration or rebuilding the boom.

2. Modular lattice boom
The source model has a 10 m foot, one 6 m insert, one 12 m insert and a 7 m head: 35 m nominal main boom. Choose a main-boom configuration in the crawler assembly panel. Each repeated insert keeps its original mesh, bolts and pendant components; it is translated into the assembly, not stretched.
Available source configurations: 23, 29, 35, 41, 47, 53, 59, 65, 71, 77 and 83 m. The selected section schedule shows quantities and the accessory-inclusive section subtotal from page 11; this is not the whole crane's operating weight. For the original 35 m assembly the section subtotal is 17,613 kg.
The manufacturer's page 22 table lists 25 lengths from 20 to 92 m. Lengths needing a 3 m insert remain unavailable in this source model. The auxiliary jib is not listed at 86, 89 or 92 m, so these lengths are blocked for the retained auxiliary-jib assembly. Existing saved projects remain readable; changing configuration never silently removes the jib or changes its hook arrangement. Section counts alone do not validate pin details, insert order, reeving, stability or load capacity.
| Manufacturer section | Family | Length | Published mass | Mass condition |
|---|
| Boom foot | 2821.30 | 10 m | 6,928 kg | including winch |
| Lattice insert | 2821.30 | 3 m | 1,411 kg | including boom pendants |
| Lattice insert | 2821.30 | 6 m | 2,163 kg | including boom pendants |
| Lattice insert | 2821.30 | 12 m | 3,736 kg | including boom pendants |
| Boom head | 2821.24 | 7 m | 4,786 kg | including boom pendants |
Source: current metric technical data, printed page 11. Accessory-inclusive transport masses must not be summed as a verified operating-crane mass. The manufacturer shows a 20-92 m main-boom envelope and arrangements on pages 20-23; this does not approve every arbitrary insert order.
The 3 m insert is absent from the original mesh. Its published dimensions and mass are recorded, but it is not offered as fabricated geometry. Available 6/12 m combinations therefore do not reproduce the entire manufacturer's range. Different crane families require their own source geometry, connection details and verified configuration data.
Insert changes rebuild the source mounting frames. Assemblies with custom geometry, added parts or edited calibration are protected: changing inserts is rejected without changing your work. Use an unmodified source assembly for a different insert arrangement. Project records and material overrides are retained. Never stretch an insert to imitate another manufacturer section.
3. Rig and coordinate system
LPP scene coordinates are metres, Y-up. The source boom lies in the X-Y luffing plane; its luff axis is Z and slew is about Y. The source pose is 86 degrees with a 26.4095 m head-to-hook reference drop. The nominal boom length is not its vertical height.
- Fixed: crawler frames, tracks, carbody and carbody ballast.
- Slew: upperworks, rear counterweight, cab and winches.
- Luff: boom foot, assembled inserts and head. The A-frame and pendants use a pinned linkage with constant mast and pendant lengths.
- Hoist: hook follows the head with vertical payout. A measured guide/head/hook/drum path replaces the two exported rope sheets; the drum rotates with payout.
- Backstops: body and rod follow separate pin-driven motions. The displayed luffing-winch rope is a visual multi-fall route, not factory-verified sheave topology.
Validate the heel, slew centre, guide, mast base/top, pendant head, hook and termination points against the correct manufacturer's drawings before relying on any dimensions. In the anatomy calibration editor, maintain separate rigid bodies and keep the hook hanging vertically. Check the complete motion range after editing a pivot.
4. Materials and detail
The source GLB preserves original UVs, diffuse colours and both texture images. Boom paint changes only the structural paint meshes, leaving the steelwork, ropes, glass and original decals separate. Restore source colours returns the original material colours. Material editing and selectable meshes do not imply that every imported surface is an exact CAD solid or a fully procedural component.
5. Verification and remaining engineering work
- Check source part count, dimensions, origin and independent selection after import and after save/reopen.
- Review slew, luff, hoist, mast and pendant alignment in side, top, front and isometric views.
- Check each boom assembly against the manufacturer's exact order, ballast, crawler configuration, reeving and load chart. No rated duty table is supplied by this preset.
- Factory pin drawings, exact backstop stroke, approved sheave/rope topology, a genuine 3 m insert and other LR-family model meshes are still required for a complete manufacturer-specific range.
- Technical PDFs are reference documents. Applicable operating instructions and certificates must come from the equipment owner/manufacturer. Confirm redistribution rights before selling source models or republishing documents.
6. Manufacturer document register
All 21 documents publicly listed in the LR 1300.2 SX unplugged product download panel were retrieved on 2026-09-13. This is the complete public panel for this model, not all crane manufacturers or private operating manuals. The links below open the original publisher; the hashes identify the downloaded research copies.
