LIFT PLANNER PRO / COMPONENT ENGINEERING

Reusable parametric machine parts

Revision 1 | 13 September 2026 | Coordinates and dimensions in metres

1. Create and edit a part

  1. Open Crane Builder, then Parametric engineering parts. Choose a component and use the plus button.
  2. Select the new component in the parts list. Edit its dimensions and choose Apply dimensions. Invalid dimensions are rejected without replacing the last valid geometry.
  3. Use the normal placement controls for a free component. Connected components take their position from their mounting points.
  4. Use Material override for paint, surface finish and texture maps. Geometry parameters and materials remain independent.
  5. Duplicate parts to create variations. Save the complete assembly to the project or the existing private model library; the saved build retains the parameters rather than only a baked mesh.

2. Available component families

3. Connect an assembly

  1. Select the child component and open Rigid connection.
  2. Choose the parent component, its mounting point, and the child's mounting point. Set pin-axis roll if required.
  3. Choose Connect mounting points. Mating normals oppose one another; geometry is not scaled to force a fit.
  4. Change the parent's parameters. Descendant parts move to the recalculated mounting points, including through a chain of lattice sections.
  5. To reposition a connected child, disconnect it first. Disconnect keeps its current position. Undo restores previous dimensions and connections.

A rigid connection is not a hinge or a rope constraint. Connected parts must share the same host or anatomy motion. Bind a complete rigid subassembly to the same anatomy group before saving the rig. Different moving groups need a calibrated joint, not a rigid mate. The assembly rejects cycles, missing parts, duplicate parents and mixed motions.

4. Configure machine motion

The existing anatomy rig controls remain responsible for slew, boom luffing, hook payout, winch rotation and articulated cylinders. Set the real slew centre, heel pin, head sheaves, hook contact and drum axis from checked source information. Parametric mounting points provide repeatable local references; they do not automatically establish the global rig calibration or a valid reeving path.

After changing a dimension that affects the machine's heel, boom head, hook or cylinder pin, review those rig references and measured rope points. Test the entire movement range for interference, broken linkage and ground clearance before saving a machine preset.

5. Source crawler and manufacturer data

The uploaded LR 1300.2 SX unplugged remains a separate preserved source asset with its original parts and textures. Its source lattice inserts and guide are available in the LR 1300 source guide. Official reference links and document hashes are recorded there.

Custom parametric parts do not inherit manufacturer approval or load charts from that source. A source mesh is not automatically converted into a parametric solid. Ground plate dimensions alone do not establish an allowable bearing pressure; slab size does not establish ballast mass. Enter verified weights and attach traceable documents separately.

6. Review and reuse checklist

7. Reuse parts across different machines

  1. Save your crane with Save to library. Its valid parametric components appear under HD Parts / My Parts, marked Parametric.
  2. Use the refresh button if the library changed while the builder was open. A failed library request is shown explicitly and can be retried.
  3. Insert a saved component into another machine. Its dimension parameters, paint and texture settings are copied independently. It starts at the ground origin with static motion; mount and rig it for the new machine.
  4. Existing machine placement, pin calibration, mass and load assumptions are not inherited by a reused component. Manufacturer references remain source references, not approval of the new design.
  5. Within one machine, Duplicate component assembly copies the selected part and all rigidly connected descendants. The copy is selected and starts at the same location. Move its root with the normal placement controls.
  6. The copied branch keeps its internal mounting connections and anatomy motion bindings, but is detached from any parent outside the copied branch. Editing it does not change the original. Ctrl+D copies only the selected component.

My Parts entries derived from a saved crane do not delete parts from that source crane. Manage the source build through its existing library editor. Saving, reusing or copying a part does not create a verified load chart or recalibrate ropes automatically.

8. LR 1300 manufacturer-envelope components

In Manufacturer reference components, choose the 3 m, 6 m or 12 m lattice module, or the ground pressure plate. Add the component with the plus button. The source-versus-model table compares the published transport envelope with your current parameters and marks changes.

The new module uses real tube geometry, bored connection plates and eight selectable modelled pin centres, plus base and outer assembly origins. Length, envelope, end projection, tube diameters, bay count and pins are editable. A connected descendant follows a dimension change without mesh scaling.

9. Connected crawler component sets

Open Crawler Crane Builder > Anatomy Builder > Crawler component sets. This entry stays in the crawler workspace; it no longer opens the mobile anatomy generator. Choose an assembly, enter its insertion origin in metres and choose Add connected components. The operation adds parts to your existing build; it does not replace your crane or its source geometry. Undo removes the addition as one action.

The existing individual component selector also provides A-frame/live mast, pendant links, cylinders, hook blocks, sheaves, ground pressure plates and counterweights. Select each component to edit dimensions, inspect mounting points, assign materials and copy connected branches. All parameters and mates are retained by the existing project and library save workflows.
